Truck Pump—Troubleshooting Guide

Pump Runs But No Flow

Possible Causes

 

What To Do      

Broken shaft or coupling Inspect and replace parts as necessary.
Valve closed Check valves. Make sure internal tank excess flow valve is open.
Blade / Vane sticking Remove blades / vanes and clean out foreign matter. Check material compatibility or replace blades if swollen.
Clearance between impeller and stage casing too large Check clearance and replace impeller or stage casing as required.
Wrong direction of rotation Check direction of rotation.
NPSH available does not meet required Review NPSH.
Too little liquid inside pump Wet pump for priming.
