Autogas Pumps—Troubleshooting Guide

Low Capacity

Possible Causes

What To Do

Pump speed too slow/wrong electric motor Check the RPM of the electric motor.

Low voltage Check motor speed.

Differential pressure too high Restriction in discharge piping/hose, or increase their sizes.

Vapor lock Regenerative turbine pumps "vapor-lock" when reaching their maximum differential pressure capability. See Differential pressure too high. Piping installed improperly. See Installation Guide.

Bypass valve stuck open or set too low Check capacity with by-pass line closed using manual valve. Re-adjust, repair or replace valve.

Clogged strainer Clean strainer.

Suction pipe too small or restricted Indicated by pump inlet pressure dropping several pounds when pump is started. Remove restriction and/or increase pipe size.

Worn impeller Replace impeller.
